“In the Harbor” is an 20″x15″ abstract acrylic painting on rough watercolor bond by Tina Steele Penn. It is a textural study of different acrylic painting techniques. From watercolor methods using thin acrylic paint to heavy acrylic using molding paste. The painting draws the viewer in like a quiet afternoon sitting on a dock at the edge of a harbor, watching the clouds and boats playing about.
I wanted to work with these colors in juxtaposition. contrasting the hardness of the dark phthalo blue and crimson against the softer moss green and white with the subtleness of the textured surface showing through.
